As part of the College of Veterinary Medicine's Strategic Plan for Research, three Signature Programs were developed to address the need for local and global solutions to health threats at the interface of animals and humans. These programs are focused on three areas of critical importance and need. These are areas in which the CVM has significant strengths, key allied colleagues within the University, and core stakeholder groups in both the University and the larger community who depend on our expertise.

Mission:

To enhance animal and human health and advance biomedical and translational research by developing and or studying disease pathogenesis in comparative and spontaneous animal models.

 Mission:

Promote the health of livestock, wildlife, humans and the environment, and address the critical nodes where they intersect with one another and with the food system.

Mission:

Detect new and emerging infectious disease; investigate relationships between pathogens, their hosts, and the environment; and develop measures for disease prevention and control.
