Clark, Terri

Terri Clark, DVM, BS joined the Anatomy teaching group in January 2024 as Course Coordinator to teach the Spring 2024 Anatomy II, Large Animal Anatomy DVM Course. Dr. Clark also co-authored the animal anatomy textbook, "Guide to Dissection of the Horse and Ruminants," with Louise C. Abbot, and Lynn M. Ruoff. As a way to get to know Terri better, she graciously agreed to answer some questions about herself.

INTERVIEW WITH DR. TERRI CLARK

1. VBS: Please tell us briefly about your teaching background?

Terri Clark: I received my Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences and my DVM at Oregon State University (OSU). After working in equine and small animal practice in Oregon for several years, I transitioned to teaching anatomy at OSU College of Veterinary Medicine where I worked for 16 years. Since then, I have taught gross anatomy periodically at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St. Kitts.

2. VBS: What questions currently drive your teaching and scholarly activities?

Terri Clark: How can I help veterinary students master gross anatomy as a foundation for becoming proficient and successful veterinarians?

3. VBS: How does your teaching impact the well-being of students and animals?

Terri Clark: Laying a solid foundation in anatomy is essential for forming competent veterinarians who will dedicate their careers to the welfare of animals.

4. VBS: What do you hope to accomplish over the coming year?

Terri Clark: I hope to assist the anatomy team in developing confidence in our veterinary students in their mastery of the discipline.

5. VBS: What are some of your interests outside of work?

Terri Clark: I enjoy traveling with my husband throughout the US (I just visited my 50th state last summer) and overseas (as a history professor, he is great fun to travel with). We have a hound mix who has been to several states and a geriatric cat who prefers to stay home. I also enjoy cooking, hiking and winery visits with friends at home in Northern Virginia.

Clark will be on campus starting in late February. If you see her around, please welcome her to the department and college.
