Dr. Carol Cardona, Pomeroy Chair in Avian Health is the 2018 recipient of the prestigious Renelius Award at the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association (MTGA) Annual Meeting at the Minneapolis Convention Center on March 14, 2018. The award was presented to Dr. Cardona by MTGA President Chris Huisinga, a turkey farmer from Renville, MN. "It signifies leadership and dedication to the industry based on contributions made to enhance Minnesota's turkey industry, and Dr. Cardona is well deserved of this special honor," says Huisinga.

Cardona is known world-wide for her expertise in avian influenza and she has been vital in establishing the Mid-Central Research and Outreach Center (MCROC) in Willmar, Minnesota. This facility is now a regional hub for research, education, the poultry industry.
