Vote on your favorite Student Petri Dish Art for 2018 ASM Agar Art Contest
Students prepare for the 2018 American Society for Microbiology agar art competition using environmental strains that microbiology students isolated and characterized. New this year: E. coli blue and purple strains purchased from EdvoTek. (Pictured right: "Sugar Skull” by Nezhoni Sandquist and “Lion” by Arian Albert were featured in top 50 ASM submissions)
On Friday, April 13, please come admire the artwork and vote on your favorites to submit to the 2018 ASM Agar Art Contest (VSB 325). Last year, the contest received 265 entries from 36 countries. Two VSB 2032 student pieces (upper left column) are featured in the top 50 Facebook submissions! Would you like to create a work of agar art for fun or for next year’s contest? Come to VSB 325 anytime between 10 am and 4 pm on Friday, April 13.
Shown to the left are this year’s colors and strains. Free supplies and instruction provided!
