VBS Welcomes Vector-borne AGREETT hire Dr. Matthew Aliota

Dr. Matthew Aliota has exstensive research expertise in Pathobiological Sciences and is also one of the 2017 Forward under 40 Award Recipients at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Thanks to faculty and committee members contributing to the Vector-borne Infectious Disease faculty search. Beginning Spring, 2018 Dr. Aliota will transition his program to our department from the College of Vet Med at UW-Madison. Dr. Aliota will be applying his expertise in transmission dynamics and evolution of mosquito-borne viruses, including Zika to a variety of vector-borne diseases that impact humans and agricultural animal species. He is an accomplished educator, particularly veterinary entomology and parasite ecology. He is looking forward to contributing to the department's teaching portfolio and developing his NIH-funded research program with colleagues in VBS and other departments. Dr. Aliota is a native of Milwaukee and an alum of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Wadsworth Arbovirology Center in New York.
