James Mickelson Receives Science Discovery Award from Malignant Hyperthermia Association
Dr. Mickelson was awarded an award which recognizes, "Contributions to Malignant Hyperthermia in Clinical and Basic Science Discovery.
From 1986-1997 Jim conducted investigations with Dr's. Charles Louis and Esther Gallant that identified the skeletal muscle ryanodine receptor protein as the candidate gene for malignant hyperthermia susceptibility in swine, as well as people. Since then Jim has investigated genetic bases for malignant hyperthermia in dogs and horses. Details about this research can be found on Dr. Mickelsons faculty biography page.
