December 19, 2017
The 5th Session of the Codex ad hoc Intergovernmental Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance (TFAMR) took place in Jeju, Republic of Korea from November 27 to December 1, 2017.
The Task Force’s objective is to develop science-based guidance on the management of foodborne antimicrobial resistance, taking full account of the WHO Global Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance, in particular objectives 3 and 4, the work and standards of relevant international organizations, such as FAO, WHO and OIE, and the One-Health approach, to ensure that Members have the necessary guidance to enable coherent management of antimicrobial resistance along the food chain.
Dr. Singer was also quoted in the November 21, 2017 Wired Article, "Why It's So Tough To Keep Antibiotics Out of Our Turkey" which discusses the movement to raise meat without routine antibiotics.
