Human neutrophil antigens (HNAs) that expressed on human white blood cells play an important role in immune function. In the journal Transfusion, genetic variation in one of these important HNAs is reported. The mutated HNA may not be expressed normally, leading to a high incidence of neutrophil disorders and blood transfusion-related lung injury.
