High school student participating in a VetCamp event.
VetCamp is an interactive education program for students in grades 9-12 who are interested in veterinary medicine. The hands-on learning activities are developed and taught by students at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, with sponsorship from the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Foundation.

Participants will take part in a "Choose Your Own Adventure" style of case study where they are responsible for a fictional patient. In this activity, they act as the veterinarian and use models to practice real clinical skills. Participants will also learn about the many veterinary careers available, pet obesity and body condition scoring, and foods and common household products that are toxic to pets. The VetCamp Student Coordinators and student volunteers love to share information about how they choose to purse veterinary education, and the steps that have led them to attending vet school.

VetCamp takes place at various venues throughout the year, including summer day camp activities at the College of Veterinary Medicine. We also work in partnership with several organizations to take part in other health career exploration programs.
